We Are Hated, Not Evil

"Blessed shall you be when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you and shall reproach you and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake." Luke 6:22

Just to get this off my chest...

Aw, Dusty, where's you spirit? Its so much more proactive to be evil than to be the subject of hatred. Makes us feel like we might accomplish something.

If the Neos have everything topsy-turvy, as we know they do, then what they call good is evil and what they call evil is good. Therefore, by embracing their labelling of us as "evil" we are, in fact, embracing good. Alles Klar?

Dusty. I am with you. The word "evil" is not to be played with. It is an invitation to, well, evil. Sorry I have no corsage on as I write this.

Hey, Dusty,

Thanks for the heads up about the bible commentaries. My Dad has a number of Barclays comms. and thinks they have much to offer pastorally; but the fact that he downplays miracles is very disturbing.

My Dad just ordered the first volume of THE LETTER AND SPIRIT JOURNAL for me. They have a couple of articles published on-line. It looks like it might be a pretty good publication.

No dearie, the joke is that in our modern world, including the modern Church, having uncompromising principles, sticking with the truth when it is making everyone uncomfortable, saying things like "extra ecclesiam nulla salus" and pointing to the inconsistencies of neo-Cathism, Americanism, and not being impressed with the shrieking and clapping and chanting that seems to make up modern Catholic liturgical expression...

means you're evil.

But if you don't get the joke, you can't join our cool evil club.

sorry.

...see, when you say "hated" traditionalists, we say, yeah. We're hated and they call us evil. So we shrug and say, well, if being a Catholic who refuses to bow to the modern world means "evil" in your weird little world, then, I guess we're evil.

And Wolftracker, don't be such a baby. It's called "irony". Superstitious fear of a word is unChristian.

But you see, they're uh casting out our name as Evil, for the Son of Man's sake. It's right there in that Bible quote.

Well Tom, we're Catholics hey, so that means we leave all that heathen Bible-readin' up to the proddies.

I still like "hated" rather than "evil." Once I get back from babysitting, I'll say more.....

I knew this controversial post might arouse the ire of some.

Curmudgeon--you're not evil, you're just a good Catholic #@*x! who successfully gets the goat of many of your liberal readers.

gfvonb--your reasoning sounds like a lawyer, and I'm still trying to follow it!

WolfTracker and Jeff--I agree with both of you.

Hilary--Is it possible that if you describe yourself as evil, you may travel down the path of evil while trying to destroy evil?

der tommissar--I understand your point but still believe it is better to be identified with Christ as hated by our enemies.

DimBulb--I would have liked you to comment on Luke 6:22 on whether the League should call themselves "evil" or "hated."

But I so WANT to be evil! And the pro-death, pro-buggery supporters of our expectant State Senator, Jolie Justus say I'm evil. And THEY know evil when they see it, right?

Curmudgeon, As a good Catholic man, you must avoid this terrible temptation. Have you thought about moving to Kansas?

Dusty,

Curmudgeon already goes to Mass in God's Country! Give him time and the light will dawn! As far as the controversy, I agree with him and with gfvonb. It's more proactive and if I am evil to the neo-cons and neo-Caths, I'll embrace it, much as the Wesleys embraced the perjorative term "methodists".
